Shea olein or Shea Nut Oil (Butyrospermum parkii) is extracted from shea butter by a process of cold pressure. Shea oil is a byproduct of shea butter production where the pressing of the seeds produces a fractionated oil. This oil leaves a smooth and healthy feel to the skin. It is rich in vitamins A, E, F, and oleic fatty acid. The shea nut is a fruit native to Africa, which has been in use for millennia as a skin cream, a barrier cream, hair moisturizer, and wound healer. It is very high in oleic acid (fatty acid), which has benefits for the hair and skin. For the skin, it moisturizes, promotes elasticity, helps reduce inflammation, and helps skin heal after sun exposure. Shea nut oil also conditions and heals dry hair.
